Merman in my Tub Review
Volumes: 8 and ongoing. Publisher: Seven Seas Many of you may already be familiar with “Monster Girl” anime/manga. Well, this easily falls into the genre of “Monster Boy”. Many of you might be familiar with titles such as “Rosario and Vampire”. But all the characters are handsome anthropomorphic sea-creatures. Ranging from an octopus, a shark, a jellyfish, a clown-fish, even a tiny hermit crab. This is a four-panel style manga that does exactly what it says on the tin. It runs in short isolated chapters of slice-of-life sitcom adventures of high school student, Tatsumi, and his handsome free-loading roommate, Wakasa the merman. Every so often, Wakasa’s fellow fish friends will…

Fourteen manga review. What am I reading!?
Well, where to start really… I have been reading manga for many years and in that time I have seen some truly terrible ones. Then we have Fourteen by Kazuo Umezu … this manga has a place in the terrible hall of fame for me personally. The art style is pretty bad, at times it almost like a team of children put this together but didn’t talk to themselves on what they were doing… Let’s point out that this is listed as a horror manga… I’m not sure how they decided that but for me, it currently falls in the category of, “What the hell am I reading” and “my…

Rebby, My Toko 2018 Review.
Tokonatsu 2018 for me was a big eye opener. It was the first time I’d been fully involved with the Toko-R pre-Festival process. I learned how dedicated they are and how much time, effort and planning goes into conceptualising, creating and running the awesome events they put on! In the weeks and months running up to the event, there were regular meetings and ongoing discussions to agree on the best way to achieve what they had planned. Alongside that is all of this… the content you’re reading now. It’s important for us to share the anticipation we feel ahead of the event and the genuine excitement that builds in each…

My Tokonatsu 2018 Highlights
July 31st Wednesday The annual tradition of my Tokonatsu adventure always begins with packing the essentials. Over the years I have learned to travel light. Keeping your checklist short, lessens the chance to forget something important. Next, I get myself over to my fellow con-goers house and spend the night to ensure we are all together for take-off in the morning. August 1st Thursday Might sound odd, but the three-hour car journey going to Tokonastu is one of my favourite parts of this annual tradition. I am tucked up in the backseat alongside the mass of luggage and cosplay with a tub of haribo and or my brother’s homemade beef…

Toko-R’s Best bits of 2018 – Rezal
Well, it’s been quite a bit longer than I expected between posts, but life happens sometimes! This week, continuing our series on Tokonatsu Highlights, I’ll be going over my best bits, and what I loved! Werewolf Ultimate For me personally, the highlight of the weekend was getting to play Werewolf Ultimate, run by our Chairman Myst! For those unfamiliar, as I was, it’s similar to Resistance, in so far that you have two teams one of good guys, and one of bad. None of the good know who the bad are, but all of the bad know each other. Each day, a vote is passed to declare one villager as…

Toko-R’s Best bits of 2018 – M pro
As promised, I’ve been hitting up some of our staff to find out what their favourite parts of this year’s Tokonatsu have been. We all put in a lot of hard work, but we also all had so much fun! Starting things off are Mike’s (M pro) highlights! “Where to start? Well for me Toko 2018 was amazing! As well as Busy! And Hectic! And one more amazing! It was a time of unknowns in many ways. This year it was new tent time for TokoR and unfortunately, due to time restraints, we didn’t get to test the new tent before Toko. Thankfully we didn’t have too many problems, and…

Corpse Party: Blood Covered
A stormy night. A harmless ghost story. A silly pact intended to symbolize their friendship. I first discovered Corpse Party on Youtube when one of my favorite Let’s Players (Cryaotic) decided to do a walkthrough of the game. Yes this a manga review, but the story of Corpse Party goes way back to 1996. Initially beginning as a horror-survival game developed by Team GrisGris on RPG Maker, receiving a remake named ‘Corpse Party: Blood Covered’ in 2008, which was followed up by numerous sequels including ‘Corpse Party: Book of Shadows’ for more up-to-date gaming platforms. It is the Blood Covered remake which this manga is based upon. The gameplay itself…

Dr Stone Manga review
Well I’m currently encoding the Anime for this years Tokonatsu but in the “Looks” 2 hours I have before the encoding is done I thought I would try my first Manga Review… I know… So for my first Manga Review I’m going to start with… Dr Stone. The story is by Inagaki, Riichiro “Eyeshield 21” With the Art done by the amazing Boichi. “Sun Ken Rock!” The story starts like any other slice of life Manga with a school scene. The boy “Ooki, Taiju” is trying to get the girl “Ogawa, Yuzuriha” with the help of his scientific friend “Senkuu” when a world changing event happens. This event petrifies…
